Getting rid of pimple scars
Pimples are spots that occur on the face due to build up of oil in the
pores of the human skin. Every adult has had pimples some time in their
lives, especially at teenage. These spots should ultimately disappear by
themselves as our bodies accustom themselves to the hormonal changes
associated with teenage.
For some individuals, however, this does not happen and the pimples
persist. This brings embarrassment and in frustration, one tries to get
rid of them. Unfortunately, the crude means employed only worsen the
situation by leading to formation of scars. These scars are either dark
pigmentation on the skin or deep tissue scars. This culminates in a
medical condition known as acne.
Acne may need professional advice to clear. Treatment can be either
natural or using medication. Natural means include lemon juice topical
application. Applying a homemade facial mask made up of a spoonful each
of yoghurt, oatmeal and sour cream mixed together also helps. Fresh
tomato juice contains antioxidants that help clear the scars. Other
natural products that may help include mint juice, apple cider vinegar,
almond oil, egg white, Manuka honey and olive oil. There is a wide range
of natural products to choose from and these have proven effective too.
Massages and pressure bandages smooth out the build up of scar tissue.
Topical creams that stimulate new skin cell growth are also of help in
this pimples. These can be obtained through a doctor's prescription or
over the counter.
Drinking 6-8 glasses of water a day helps flush the body of toxins and
this is helpful in treating scars. Holding ice cubes wrapped in a cloth
on to the affected area reduces inflammation and the appearance of
scars. Resisting the temptation to pick at pimples reduces the chances
of scar formation. Keeping the skin clear and frequent washing with
water is also good.
A wide range of medical procedures can also alleviate the scar menace.
The most common is surgical procedures that remove, fill and raise
scars. These include dermabrassion, chemical peels and chemabrassion.
These procedures remove the top layer of the skin to allow growth of new
skin. Laser treatments use a laser light to remove the skin's top
layer. Collagen Fillers can be added through surgery to treat deep
tissue scars.
Like all scars, these scars may not fully disappear and thus they may
not be noticed. This is because a scar results from repair of damaged
tissues by collagen fibres. These efforts are aimed at reducing the
size, colour and appearance of the scars. Good personal hygiene
practices give one confidence and reduce the negative attitude
associated with pimple scars.
The facial skin is sensitive and this is made worse by pimples. Care
should be taken therefore when choosing a product to use on acne.
Failure to do so may lead to the condition worsening rather than
healing. Cosmetics with mercury for example should be avoided. To be
safe, it is wise to seek a medic's advice before using any medication.
